Three levels of breakdown
Every order passes through three levels of financial breakdown. Each one answers a different question, and each serves a different audience.
1) Sales breakdown
The sales breakdown is what the account manager works with, and it lives on the Pricing tab in SalesChain. It tracks what the rep is responsible for, including equipment, delivery, and service fees, and it shows revenue from the order, gross profit, and commissions to be paid. Entries at this level are called order adjustments.
2) Company breakdown
The company breakdown is the internal accounting view used by the finance department. It allocates costs to the correct internal departments and general ledger accounts, covering both the items the account manager is responsible for and additional internal expenses such as setup, IT, and warehouse. Entries at this level are called internal adjustments.
